h o m e Born in Marseille, France, in 1968, Philippe Cometti spent most of his youth in foreign countries. He came back to his natal country to study art history. His interest with photography and film became predominant while studying at the ENS Louis-Lumière. The work of Philippe Cometti first appeared in the cutting edge magazine, Dutch, in 1996. Mainly shot in studios, his photographs are always portraiture, analytic, dynamic and energetic. Framing and capturing a moment in time is his particular signature. In 1997 he was asked by the same publication to shoot for their birthday issue, “40 Years of Yves Saint Laurent”. This project entailed a number of portraits of Mr. Yves Saint Laurent and all his closest friends and creative team. In 1999 Cometti shot one of the most recognizable advertising campaigns for “YSL Rive Gauche”. Ever since, Cometti has shot many other campaigns for clients such as, Lanvin, Givenchy, Hermès, Emporio Armani, Moschino, Aiguille Noire Peuterey, Kenneth Cole, Nike, H&M.
